    Death of the Hon Melville W. van Amber occurred in New Bremen
    Lowville, Feb 8. Melville W Van Amber, aged 76 died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Meeker, at New Bremen at 7 o'clock last evening. He had been in poor health for the past two years. Mr van Amber was a Republican in politics and had represented the town of New Bremen on the Lewis County Board of Supervisors and served as member of Assembly from Lewis County for two years. He was a resident of Lowville for a time and the president of the village for two years and a member of the Lowville Club and the Lowville Lodge No. 34 F. and A.M. Before entering politics he was engaged in lumbering in the town of New Bremen. Surviving are two daughters and two sons. Mrs Charles Meeker of New Bremen, Mrs James A McDonald of Virginia, Minn; Hiram W van Amber of Minneapolis, Minn and M Wilber van Amber of Lowville.
