Sister of Martha, Almada, Isabella and Alonzo VanAmburg "Lodi - Mrs. Minerva Kitson, widow of the late Shadrick Kitson, died of apoplexy early Wednesday morning at the home of Frank Manning where she had gone to spend the winter. Mrs. Kitson was 70 years old and had lived nearly all her life in Seneca county. She was a faithful member of the M. E. church at Lodi, whose pastor, Rev. M. J. Owen officiated at the funeral Friday afternoon. Her remains were laid to rest in the Lodi cemetery." (Ovid Gazette, 24 January 1906) "Lodi - Mrs. Minerva Kitson died on Tuesday night at an advanced age. She was the widow of the late Shadrach Kitson, of Lodi Centre, where she had lived since the death of her husband, some years ago, except during the winter months she had made her home with the family of Frank Manning, southeast of this village, where she died. Mrs. Kitson was universally respected, and had for many years been a faithful and consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Lodi. A son, Eugene Kitson, survived her. The papers can be found in Middlesex County [Mass.] Probate Records, Packet 8,936 (accessed on FHL Microfilm 0,397,070). His widow, Deborah, and Jabez Brown were granted administration on that date. An inventory was taken by Jabez Brown, Joshua Brown and Jonas Hale, all of Stow. The personal estate totalled 90 pounds, 15 shillings, and the real estate totalled 225 pounds. The inventory was allowed on 14 May 1783 by the Court. An account of the debts due, in the sum of 85 pounds, 9 shillings, 11 pence was allowed on 5 November 1783. In the partition of the land, the widow was allotted her thirds. Amos Gates was appointed the executor of his father's 1743 will, which was proved 22 June 1752 in Middlesex County Probate Court, and was bequeathed the following: "I give to my son Amos Gates (....) one set of cast irons allso I give to my said son Amos that parcel of land yt is called ye pasture joyning to the farm on wch I now live containing by estimation twelve acres be the same more or less both within ye fence and without it obliging him on confirmation thereof to give to me & my wife a decent Christian burial when we shall dye and as to my own burial I so far direct as to say yt my sd son shall give to my three surviving daughters viz. Hannah Heald, Mary Hains & Susanna Fitch mourning aparel that is robe gowns of Norwich ... of black and white ... crape as it is commonly called suitable in price and goodness for people of their fashion together with decent black gloves and vales and to each of my three sons decent black gloves & ... He was retired from EFCO in Monett, served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pierce City, Missouri. Arthur is survived by one son: Shaun VanAmber of Branson; two brothers: Ronald VanAmber of Monett, and Donald VanAmber of Cape Canaveral, Florida; two sisters: Nellie Morris of Monett, and Judy Etter of Sarcoxie; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both his parents: James and Ethel and wife Edith. Visitation for Arthur is being held on Thursday July 2, 2015 from 6p-8p at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri. Graveside services at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery will be announced when finalized.
