351 | Corning Leader - August 5, 1937 MT. WASHINGTON — The funeral of Mrs. Sophia VanAmburgh was held Wednesday at 2:30 at the Bond Funeral Home In Hammondsport. The Rev. w. H. Willits of Elmira officiated. Burial was in Mt. Washington cemetery. Deceased was born in Lawrenceville, Pa., March 19, 1857, the daughter of Murray and Betsey (Beeman) Nash and came to this community to live about 67 years ago. She had resided here until three years ago she went to live with her son In Elmira. On September 4, 1878 she was united in marriage to Nathan H. VanAmburgh and to them two children were born, a daughter, Mrs. Laura Shattuck, died in 1920. She is survived by her husband; a son, J. Murray VanAmburgh, of Elmira; a sister, Cora Schofield of Bath; four granddaughters, Mrs. Delbert Beam of Hammondsport, Mrs. Richard Andrews and Mrs. Ruasell Allen of Binghamton and Miss Muriel VanAmburg of Elmira; five great-grandchildren. | Nash, Sophia J (I2466)

He was retired from EFCO in Monett, served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pierce City, Missouri. Arthur is survived by one son: Shaun VanAmber of Branson; two brothers: Ronald VanAmber of Monett, and Donald VanAmber of Cape Canaveral, Florida; two sisters: Nellie Morris of Monett, and Judy Etter of Sarcoxie; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both his parents: James and Ethel and wife Edith. Visitation for Arthur is being held on Thursday July 2, 2015 from 6p-8p at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri. Graveside services at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery will be announced when finalized. Memorial donations for Arthur may be made to the First Baptist Church in Pierce City or to Hospice Compassus.
