- Col. George Skirvin came to Kent County MD in 1724 and was appointed by Lord Baltimore one of the judges for that county. He served on the bench until his death in 1736. George's wife was Sarah, daughter of Cornelius Comegys. Further information obtained from a Glasgow library indicates
a George Skirvine was Master of the Grammar school of Glasgow. These records are dated
October 20, 1696. See Extracts from the Records of the Burgh of Glasgow ... A. D. 1573-17: 1691-1717 (google books). William (Guielmus) Skirven was a student the University of Glasgow
in 1702.
According to MD land records, William Skirvin was a large land owner in Somerset Co. Md.. His will is in the book of wills in a genealogy library in Huntington Beach, CA. According to the notes of Percy Skirvin (1800's Md) Old Geo and Sarah had 3 sons - Thomas, George T and ______. George T. married Sarah Evans and they were the parents of John and Francis. John moved west and Francis stayed in Kent Co.
