Diary Entries December 14, 1863

Mon. Dec. 14,1863

Wrote two letters last night, one to Ett and one to Smith. Ordered a box sent. They talk of moving our regt.

Tues. Dec. 15, 1863

On guard again today.

Wed. Dec. 16, 1863

It was a very pleasant night, rather cold about like October weather to home. No drill today, nothing to do only lay in our tent

Thu. Dec. 17, 1863

It began to rain last night in the night and rained all day today. We got orders to have everything packed up and ready to move at 8 o.c. to a better camp ground only a short distance but it rained all day.

Fri. Dec. 18, 1863

Rained all night, can't move. It is oh how muddy it is. It has cleared off this morning the sun shines. It is very cold nothing to do today.

Sat. Dec. 19, 1863

It froze hard last night. I got a letter from my dear Ett last night and a pair of gloves. They are nice ones. Got a letter from Tom and from HK Have done large washing today and it is very cold.

Sun. Dec. 20, 1863

On picket today about one & a half miles from camp. It is very pleasant but cold. I have written a letter to Ett today.
